About Us

First Time in the Mountains?

Trust us to help you avoid the hurdles of learning the sport. We know that by slowing things we speed up the learning curve. You’ll experience less fatigue and enjoy the sport more while still challenging yourself. We’ll take you into terrain that builds confidence. And makes you smile!

Riding for Years?

Our clinics for advanced technical riders focuses on specific terrain features. We cover everything from downhill turns to cliffs and trees. You’ll be challenged to ride to your maximum ability and discover what you can really do!

Our Location

Weir Boondocking is located in the Southeast corner of the British Columbia Rocky Mountains. We are based out of Fernie, BC, approximately 3 hours Southwest of Calgary on Highway 3. Fernie has an average snowfall of 875cm, allowing us to teach in deep snow all season long.

Our riding season starts with some road rides as early as November, and nearly every year we ride right through to July. The heart of our season is from early December until mid-May. The riding that surrounds us is diverse and has something to offer for everyone. With lots of technical tree riding and some fine alpine bowls you are sure to find something to challenge your ability.

Fernie is the ideal place to visit on a snowmobiling vacation with more to offer than just good snow. We have an active snowmobile club with warm up huts and groomed trails. The City of Fernie boasts many good restaurants, a world class ski resort, excellent cat skiing, snowshoeing, x-country skiing and much much more.

Clinics

Fundamentals of Riding

Focuses on development of skills. We are very familiar with taking new riders into the backcountry. Trust us to help you avoid the hurdles of learning the sport. We know that by slowing things down speeds up the learning curve. You’ll experience less fatigue, enjoy yourself and challenge yourself. We’ll take you into terrain that builds confidence and makes you smile!

Follow Me Ride

Designed for advanced technical riders. Here we focus on specific terrain features. We cover everything from downhill turns to cliffs and trees. On these rides we address skills only when needed, rather than focusing on development. You’ll be challenged to ride to your maximum ability, and discover what you can really do!

We recommend riders take a Fundamentals of Riding clinic before progressing to a Follow Me clinic. The reason for this is because the skillset built in the Fundamentals clinic opens more terrain for the Follow Me rides.
